GOVT. BOYS MODEL HR. SEC. SCHOOL ANANTNAG (BRAKPORA) was established in 1959. Since then, it has proved to be an educational hub for the majority of the population of the district Anantnag. The school has an excellent track record in providing quality education which is very well reflected by the number of scholars, politicians, bureaucrats, academicians, doctors, engineers etc. produced by this prestigious institution over the years.

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is a flagship initiative set up by NITI Aayog to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country. As part of these efforts, Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) are being set up in schools across the country to promote creative, innovative mind set in the students. An ATL was set up and inaugurated in the school premises in January 2019.

Since the inception of the lab, the students have worked with various kinds of sensors and kits to create Soccer Robots, Gripper Robots etc. Working with these technologies proved to be not only an incredible learning experience but provided great exposure to the students. The students could also explore areas like assembling drones, automatic sewing machine, aerospace technologies through the various ATL kits. The students have also been trained in different kinds of drill work, soldering and 3D printing as these skills are pivotal for most of the projects.

The ATL has immensely helped the students in increasing their practical knowledge through hands-on experience which has further brought about more innovative ideas in them. The lab experience has sparked such curiosity that the students now spend extra hours in the lab. The learning at the lab has greatly improved their approach towards problem solving. This is quite evident with their rising participation in various competitions at the district level. In essence, thanks to ATL, the students have become more efficient and responsible and their technical skills have improved to a great extent.
